Broken Hearted

Last night the Spurs lost their fourth game to the Lakers and subsequently the series. Similar to game one, the Spurs looked good for about half the game, but in the second half things began to unravel, thanks in large part to Kobe's decision to take over the 4th quarter. Like Pop said in his post game interview, the Lakers were the better team. That just means that Pop and R.C. have some work to do this offseason.

With that the drought has begun. Now that the Spurs season is over I am facing many long months without any good sports to watch or follow. With the exception of baseball, the world of sports will be largely irrelevant for the next 4 months until the NFL begins. Is it too soon for me to begin preparing for my fantasy football draft? I guess it may be. So I'll just have to focus on the tasks at hand. Moving to another city. Buying a house. Starting a new job.

Hopefully the trend will continue and the Spurs will win their fifth straight odd-year championship.

Summer

This has been a big week for us. After telling our friends last week that we would almost certainly be moving to Copperas Cove in a matter of weeks, we decided we wanted to take full advantage of having them nearby. We invited some of our closest friends over Sunday evening to celebrate Memorial Day. We grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, ate watermelon and strawberry short cake. It was a great time to enjoy each other. We loved every minute of it. However, it was so different than other get togethers we've had in recent months as babies seem to be multiplying. There were SIX children here on Sunday night. There have never been so many and the house has never been so busy. It was just a very clear to me that we are growing up.

On a different note, I finished my last day of teaching today. Since we are on the move and the baby is due in November, Matt & I decided that I will not teach next year. I must say, I am not all that sad. Today was the last day of finals and sure, there were some students that were hard to say goodbye to but the truth is I am thrilled to not have the stress or time constraints of teaching and having a baby. I may go back in a couple of years, but for now I am grinning ear to ear that it's over.

The Visit

This past weekend Sarah and I went to Cove to visit with a search committee from FBC Friday was packed with tours and introductions. While we were down there some of our fears were put to rest, but not all of them. But ultimatley we realize that there will be some fear wherever we go. So this morning the pastor called and said that the search team voted unanimously to invite us to come in view of a call, and we accepted. As with any step of faith, we are both excited and scared. We are very sad that God has led us away from our friends here, but we know that awesome things await us as we follow Him to CC.
