Bitter Loss

Tonight was our church's annual chili cook off. Connor wore his camo onesie (provided by Barrett). He was in good company in his hunting camo. I must confess I'm still a little bitter about the cook off though. While I had no certain hopes for winning anything for our chili (it was vegetarian and we are in a hunting community - you do the math!) I had very high expectations for winning the table decorations contest. You see, Matt & I started a new class called Marriage Matters and we entered as a class, so our theme was 'wedding' chili. We were going for irony. Who serves chili at a wedding? Anyway we went all out - I even wore my veil and yet we won nothing. Here's our table:

(The cornbread is two gold rings! and yet nothing.)

My mom is always asking for more pictures, so here's a slideshow of us hanging out at home and any other recent activities.

Future Mensa Candidate

Connor, as always, is growing and changing before our eyes. I've been trying to video him more often but until today I didn't know how to edit the videos. Here are two. The first is last Thursday when Matt was going back to work after lunch & Connor waved to him! I'm not entirely sure that Connor knew that he was waving but every time Matt waved his hand, Connor mirrored him. It was very exciting. Of course the best waves were not caught on camera, but it's still cute. The second video is of tummy time and Connor playing with his hanging toys. He will swing his arms to hit toys that hang over him now! He will do it over and over again whether he's in his bouncy seat, on his play mat or if one of us is holding the toy over him. He definitely knows that when he swings his arm at the toy, he hits it. It's so exciting to see him learning and growing.

Tummy Time

I am not at all disciplined about getting Connor on the floor and on his tummy but when I do it makes me smile so much! He is growing like crazy and getting so strong. I put him on the floor this afternoon and he is getting so much better at holding his head up and for much longer periods of time. Also, this weekend Mimi & Papa came for an impromptu visit. It is great living so close to family that they can make quick one night visits like that. Grandma Julie is coming tomorrow for her one night visit. The grandparents don't like going more than about 3 weeks without seeing Connor, I'm learning. Also, Connor has been in the church nursery for 3 weeks now and is getting to be a pro at it. Of course all the workers love him. He also goes 3 mornings a week while I have started going to aerobics. Don't laugh too hard, although if you were there watching you'd be laughing. I can't keep up to save my life! My heart rate is up and that's what counts though! Between MOPS, aerobics and Sundays this boy better learn to love that nursery! Here are a few pictures to satisfy your apetite!

Connor sits & speaks

We are just learning to use our video camera & put videos on here so be gracious please!
Connor is getting so strong with holding his head up and working his legs that we had to show him off. Plus he's learning to use his voice a little so we took a couple of videos of him last night cooing and laughing. Hope they warm your heart like he does ours!

Connor really loves this sling. Everytime he's in it he's asleep within minutes!
