It's that time again!

NBA season has officially arrived. While I do realize this is not monumental for all of your households, this marks the beginning of Connor's indoctrination. The child has no choice but to wholeheartedly love the Spurs. Yes, I do love the Spurs but my husband is capable of infatuation. A few months ago we came across this 12 month Spurs outfit and although I was not sure if it would fit Connor come Spurs season, Matt insisted we buy it. Thankfully Connor is trimming down every day so the uniform was not money down the drain. Go Spurs Go!

Nearly 14 Weeks

I can't believe that I am now 13 weeks and nearly 14 weeks pregnant. This pregnancy is going so much faster than last time. I know that life just goes faster and faster once you have kids but now I'm experiencing it first hand. Connor is walking more and more every day. He has walked as far as about 5 feet independently! He is trying to talk all the time. He understands us when we tell him to do certain things and he knows when he's been naughty. For example, earlier tonight I had a couple of teething tablets set out to give him in the night if he got fussy. While we were winding down and getting ready for bed, he discovered them & shoved them in his mouth as quick as he could. My jaw dropped & I let out a laughing gasp. I began to crawl over to him to give him the one he dropped but he moved as quickly as he could go around behind the rocking chair, laughing all the way. He thought he was being so sly & eating his tablets and making a quick getaway. He just cackled and giggled when I tried reaching around the chair to get him. He was so proud of his mischief! The funny thing to me is that I don't even really care that he got the tablets in the first place. (Except that it's 3 tablets wasted that I don't have to use later.)
Anyway, I just can't believe I am one-third of the way through this pregnancy. So far it has been easier than the first, for which I am grateful. I have had some rough days of exhaustion and nausea but most days have been pretty good. I have no inkling as to whether this will be a boy or a girl though. Everything in life is different this time, so am I having different symptoms because the baby is the opposite sex or because I have an 11 month old and am busy with life so I don't have time to slow down and feel every ache and pain? Who's to say? We will certainly have an ultrasound to determine the sex of this baby though. I am not one for surprises. Planning and decorating are too high a priority!

Here is Connor in his "Sunday Best" at 11 1/2 months.

Heritage Homestead

A few months ago I heard about Heritage Homestead from a friend and immediately became interested in visiting. So, last Saturday we loaded up and drove north to meet our dear friends, the Putnam's for a day at the homestead. It was just beautiful weather and the kids all had so much fun. It was a really great day. We saw a blacksmith, woodworking/furniture making, pottery making and ate some really delicious food.

The gristmill is completely powered by water & here is a distant picture of the water wheel at work.

Connor & Elijah at 11 months & 13 months.
This turkey was GIANT! It was also all puffed up to show off for a female companion.

Connor & Matt checking out the farm birds.

Connor had so much fun he had to take a break mid-day.
All in all, it was a fun filled & educational field trip! Great Fall Fun!

Pumpkin Patch & a GIANT Spider

Connor & I went to Sweet Berry Farm's Pumpkin Patch today with a small group from MOPS. Aside from the summer-like weather we had a great time! We had fresh strawberry lemonade, played in the pumpkins, went for a hay ride & fed goats! Poor Connor was sweating buckets but he didn't fuss one time! He was a real trooper. On the hay ride we sat all the way in the front & when the farmer tuned on the tractor it made a very loud start which scared Connor half to death! He jumped up so high and began wailing. From that point on he clung tightly to my arms and watched that machine very intently! The crying stopped right away but he wanted to be certain he was safe. He really was not very interested in the goats. I think because he couldn't really touch them or get very close, he didn't really care. The thing he enjoyed most was playing on a miniature tractor. He turned the wheel and kept looking at me with a huge grin, full of delight. I guess he also really liked the lemonade, although he only got a sip - that was for Mommy! Here are a few of the pictures we took. Enjoy!

Connor's big boy tractor!
The sun was so bright I could NOT get him to look at me. I was kind of surprised because this is the kid who LOVES the camera.
On the hayride - please ignore my goofy grin. It was hot & we were DONE!
A few weeks ago I saw this spider in the garage while I was moving things around. There isn't anything in the picture to give you an idea of it's size but it was about 4 inches end-to-end. I was loading Connor up to go somewhere but I did not like the idea of leaving this thing to make a home in my garage, so I buckled Connor into his seat and ran inside to get some bug spray. (That's when I saw the camera & decided I wanted evidence.) When I got back I sprayed as directly as I could from as far away as I could. That's when it happened. Spider babies came pouring out of this thing like the plague! There were literally thousands of them. And! They only died if they were sprayed after leaving the mom. The spray already in the air didn't seem to affect them at all. I probably went through the whole can of Raid trying to kill this horror. My heart was pounding and I had shivers for the rest of the day. (I've had a few since writing this down.) It was a nightmare I won't soon forget. Ugh!
