September?

Where did September go? I can't believe that I didn't post on here once in the last month! Sorry! I really have only 1 picture that I took in September too. How long can I blame things like this on pregnancy???
Well, here's our 1 picture. Special isn't it?

Speaking of pregnancy, we have decided on a name! Drumroll please....
Corban Dean Moore

Matt suggested Corbin but didn't know of any significance. I knew it meant something spiritual, I just wasn't sure what. After some research, we found Mark 7:11 which tells us that Corban means a gift to/for God. Perfect! Neither of the other boys names were chosen for any specific meaning, we just liked them. But this time we really felt led to this name and meaning. We chose to spell it with an a instead of an i which is how it's spelled in scripture. Dean is my mom's dad's middle name. We are so grateful for his presence and leadership of his family and felt compelled to give him a namesake.
So early next year (due date is 2/5) we will be adding Corban Dean to our family photos!

Water Park

Now we are entering August pictures. We recently discovered a small water park that's about 20 minutes from our house. We went on a friends recommendation and had a blast. The boys loved it!

Connor is quite a fish and would never get out of the water if he didn't have to. He is pretty fearless which I love. He was in a total state of bliss...

until just after this picture. He saw some big kids jumping from the middle divider,  off of this green slide. He decided to try it too. He couldn't jump quite as far and hit the outer edge and skinned up his knee pretty well. It bled for a long time and we had to file a report to get him cleaned up. He had to sit out and let it try to dry up enough to scab over before he could get back in. He was so pitiful. It finally began to heal enough that he got about 20 more minutes of swimming in before we had to go home.

Cameron on the other hand likes to play it safe. He truly enjoyed himself, it just looks different that Connor's fun. Just a side note, Cameron wears these glasses EVERY time he's outside. Without fail. He has earned the nickname Cool Shades.

Cam's favorite thing is to sit on the fountains.
If you look closely you can see that those are Connor's legs on the end of the slide.

He did muster the courage to conquer this toddler slide. He prefers it because nothing sprays you in the face while climbing or sliding.

Learning to Sew

I am working to add sewing to my list of abilities. I recently had two baby showers to attend. They were the first ones since I lost the baby in January. I was not looking forward to them at all, in spite of the fact that I am pregnant again. (16 weeks Monday) I remembered my friend Melissa saying that having a gift she was excited to give gave her the motivation she needed to start attending these things again. So I gave it a whirl. I have a lot of improving to do but it was a fun project.

The first was a playmat for my friend Mina. They aren't finding out the sex of the baby so I got this pretty neutral fabric. I attached 2 ribbon loops for toys. You can see one on the top right here.

The second gift was for Brenna. She was having a boy. I decided on a taggie toy and a burp cloth for her. The taggie rag has a thick plastic bag for that fun crinkle noise and ribbon loops around the edges. I also added a couple of buttons for fun. I sewed them on as firmly as humanly possible. Plus they are over-sized so on the off change they somehow managed to come off, baby would have a really difficult time choking on them. Saftey first!

July Adventures

I took the boys for a short lived nature walk behind our house.

On our way to visit college friends we stopped at Town Lake in Austin.

The boys enjoyed throwing rocks into the water.

Days later, on our way back home, we went to the Arboretum in Austin and played on the life sized cow statues. Yes they are wearing the same clothes but I had under-packed for the long weekend and they were freshly washed. I promise.
They were all sugared up on their first taste of cheesecake so they had lots of sillies to work out before we got back in the car.

While I ran up to the restroom Matt attempted a quick photo shoot with the boys. I may be partial but I think these are just the cutest stinkin boys ever!

Waco Zoo

Yes, we are alive and well. I know I've been MIA for a while now but our computer issues are still working themselves out. Here are some summer pictures for your viewing pleasure.

In July we went to the Cameron Park Zoo for a family fun day. If you've never been, it's a great zoo!

The boys checked out an alligator through an underground cave window.

And then outside from up above.

Cameron I inspected a sleeping ocelot. I had to hope that the glass was very thick.

My guys escaped the sun for a minute inside a teepee.

The orangutan is the crown jewel of the zoo. She is huge. We caught the very end of a presentation by a zoo keeper. She was doing tricks for treats here.

The boys paused for a minute on the statue.

See, Mommy was there!

More to come! I promise!

Dresser Makeover

We have recently hit the roadside jackpot! Matt was driving through our 'hood and spotted this lovely dresser out for trash pick up. My loving husband knew I had been in the market to replace our tv/media cainet with a made over dresser. So check out the before and after!

Recognize this? It was in your grandmother's house circa 1980.

Sanded and center drawers removed. New shelf created.

Backing, sides and bottom created. Painted white and knobs sprayed a dark pewter color.

I used my sand block to rough up the edges and corners to give it a little more of a worn look.

Total cost - about $15.

Next up is another freebie found literally in front of our house. Our next door neighbor was throwing out 2 dressers. We have been eyeing this one at Ikea for a year or more now ut since we had a functioning dresser we never could justify buying a new one just because we liked it more. The only problem was that one of the big drawers was broken and so was a support bar. These were not problems as far as Matt was concerned. He used pieces from the other dresser, rebuilt the drawer then used wood glue and paint to repair the support bar. You can actually see it more clearly in the picture than you can in real life. See the dark spot (from a scratched lens)? Just to the right  is the repainted patched spot. And I don't even remember which drawer he rebuilt. You can't tell at all. Pretty impressive for a "not very handy" guy!

Total cost - $0.

bzzzz

The boys needed hair cuts and Mimi is always good about taking them. So a few weeks ago off they went to the barber. Connor's didn't really go as planned. The barber didn't cut much off the top and took too much off the sides. So when we got home Matt got out his clippers and went to work. The end result is cute but makes me sad that Connor looks so old.

Hiatus

I have been an absent blogger lately because of a broken computer. Thank you Cameron for that. I am back now though. More posts coming soon!

I'm Gonna Knock You Out!

Cameron received a t-ball set for his birthday, which Connor loves. So here are some pictures of the first night we got it out and played with it.

Connor was up first and knocked the fire out of that ball.

Straight into his brothers face.

The swelling was gonby morninbut it sure looked nasty for a while.

So Cameron tried his hand at bat.

And yes, Cameron is without pants and Connor is wearing a belt over his t-shirt. We encourage independent choices at our house.
